Karnataka Minister Invites Elon Musk to Set Up His Business in the State
The Congress-led Karnataka government has invited tech billionaire Elon Musk to establish firms in the southern state. In a Twitter post, Karnataka's Minister for Commerce and Industries, Infrastructure MB Patil, stated that his state is the "ideal destination" for Tesla's entry into India.
Tesla, an American multinational automotive and energy company, is owned by Elon Musk. Electric vehicles, stationary battery energy storage systems from home to grid-scale, solar panels and solar roof tiles, and related products and services are designed and manufactured by the company.
MB Patil, the Minister of Infrastructure Development of Karnataka, said, “If Tesla considers setting up a plant in India, Karnataka, with its great potential and capabilities, is, I must say, the destination.” He also tagged Elon Musk in his Twitter post. He further said, “Karnataka stands ready to support and provide the necessary facilities for Tesla and other ventures of Elon Musk, including Starlink.” Karnataka, according to MB Patil, is the "ideal destination" for Tesla's development in India.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Tesla and Twitter CEO Elon Musk during his current State visit to the United States and asked him to investigate prospects in India for investments in electric transport and the fast increasing commercial space sector.
Elon Musk, the CEO (chief executive officer) of SpaceX, told reporters after meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi that he is tremendously excited about India's future and that India has more potential than any other major country in the world.
Tech billionaire Elon Musk also said, "I am tentatively planning to visit India again next year. I am looking forward to it.” He expressed his belief that his car company, Tesla, will be in India “as soon as humanly possible.”
Tesla is scheduled to reveal the location of its new factory by the end of this year. Elon Musk has also expressed interest in introducing his Starlink services to India. SpaceX operates Starlink, a satellite-based internet service provider, owned by Musk.
