Tesla Coming To India”: Elon Musk After Meeting PM Modi

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Tesla CEO, SpaceX founder, and Twitter owner Elon Musk on the first day of his historic three-day state visit to the United States. "I'm a fan of Modi," Tesla's CEO said after the meeting.

Tech billionaire Musk said, "It was a great meeting with the Indian Prime Minister, and I like him quite a lot. He visited our Tesla factory a few years ago. So, we have known each other for a while. I am excited about India because it has more promise than any large country in the world."

Musk also said that Tesla would come to the Republic of India soon. The Tesla CEO said, "I am confident that Tesla will be in India and will do so as soon as humanly possible." Musk further said that the electric car maker Tesla was interested in the Indian market.

After meeting Musk, the popular Indian Prime Minister wrote on Twitter, "Great meeting you today, Elon Musk! We had multifaceted conversations on various issues ranging from energy to spirituality." Musk also replied to the tweet. He said, "It was an honour to meet again."

On Tuesday morning, the Indian Prime Minister went to the United States for a coveted State Visit, a distinction reserved by Washington DC for the closest of allies. The Prime Minister's schedule includes an address to a joint session of the US Congress, meetings with business leaders and Indian expats, and a state dinner with current US President Joe Biden at the White House, the official residence and workplace of the president of the United States.

Earlier, Modi and Musk met in 2015 during Modi’s visit to the Tesla Motors factory in California, a state in the Western United States. During his visit, Tesla engineers reportedly gave Modi a presentation on electric vehicles.
