UAE Stands with Lebanon: A Humanitarian Effort Driven by Compassion

In the face of adversity, the spirit of unity and compassion shines brightly in the UAE. The recent launch of the "UAE Stands with Lebanon" national relief campaign exemplifies this commitment, showcasing the country’s unwavering dedication to humanitarian efforts. During the second week of the campaign, a remarkable collection drive was organized at the Exhibition Centre in Dubai Expo City, bringing together around 2,000 volunteers who gathered an impressive 250 tonnes of vital relief materials, including food, medicine, and shelter equipment.

A Collective Effort

The ongoing campaign has, so far, amassed nearly 1,000 tonnes of relief supplies, reflecting the collective efforts of various UAE charities and agencies. This initiative is a direct response to the pressing needs of Lebanon, where the crisis has intensified, leading to significant hardships and a mass exodus of families seeking safety and stability.
The campaign was initiated under the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, with continued oversight from His Highness Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court. The operations are further supervised by Sheikh Theyab Bin Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Development and Fallen Heroes' Affairs, who chairs the International Humanitarian and Philanthropic Council.

The Role of Charitable Organizations

Key players in this significant humanitarian effort include Dubai Cares and the Emirates Red Crescent (ERC), who partnered with a wide array of charitable and humanitarian entities to facilitate the collection and distribution of relief materials. Sultan Mohammed Al Shamsi, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Development Affairs and International Organizations, emphasized the UAE's vital role in global humanitarian efforts, a legacy established by the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan and carried forward by the current leadership under Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Abdullah Ahmed Al Shehhi, CEO of Dubai Cares, highlighted the urgency of increased support for Lebanon, acknowledging the escalating crisis and the resulting hardships faced by the Lebanese people. He reiterated the UAE's commitment to standing by communities in distress, ensuring that assistance is provided swiftly and effectively.

A Unified Approach

The success of this campaign is underscored by the participation of 24 Emirati donor institutions, including the ERC, Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation, Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation, Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, and many others. Their collective efforts demonstrate a unified approach to humanitarian aid, showcasing the strength of community collaboration in times of need.

A Beacon of Hope

The "UAE Stands with Lebanon" campaign not only provides essential aid but also serves as a beacon of hope for those in Lebanon facing unprecedented challenges. It embodies the principles of solidarity and support, reinforcing the UAE's status as a leader in global humanitarian initiatives. As the campaign progresses, it is clear that the spirit of generosity and empathy that defines the UAE will continue to inspire efforts that make a significant difference in the lives of those in need.

Through initiatives like these, the UAE is not just addressing immediate needs but is also fostering long-term resilience in communities affected by crises, ensuring that the legacy of compassion continues to thrive for generations to come.
